Abu Dhabi Announces Winners of 'Mujaraat' Poetry Competition

The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Heritage announced the names of the winners of the 'Mujaraat' poetry competition, organized as part of the events celebrating the UAE-Kuwaiti relations week, to honor the poetic legacy that brings together the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah. The results of the competition showed that the first place was won by the Kuwaiti poet Jam'an Al-Azmi, the second place by the Kuwaiti poet Muhammad Al-Hajri, and the third place by the Emirati poet Muhammad Al-Maqbali. The competition saw significant participation from poets who presented poems that reflected a high level of poetic creativity and artistic commitment, embodying the spirit of brotherhood and the authentic poetic taste that unites the UAE and the sisterly State of Kuwait. The competition provided poets with the opportunity to present a poetic 'mujaraat' in the Nabati dialect on a poem by the late Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah and respond to it with a poem by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, adhering to the same meter, rhyme, and theme, reflecting the depth of brotherly relations and cultural closeness between the two sisterly nations. This competition affirms the pivotal role played by Nabati poetry in documenting brotherly relations, enhancing creative communication between poets of the UAE and Kuwait, and drawing upon the values and principles established by the founding fathers, may God rest their souls. The specialized judging committees had begun the process of sorting and evaluating the entries according to approved criteria, prior to announcing the winners' names. Financial prizes were awarded to the top three positions: 30,000 dirhams for first place, 20,000 dirhams for second place, and 10,000 dirhams for third place.
